Time lapse photography of an installation of a new ceiling light fixture in a living room.
1. Determine if a wire can run down the cavity of the wall. Some fire blocking may prevent an easy installation or require more demolition then repair.

2. If using an exisiting electrical box, shut off the electrical breaker for that box. Start in the attic and run one end of the wire down to the switch. Use fishing tape or simply twine with a heavy object on the end such as a plastic pen. Then pull the electrical wire through the electrical box using the twine.
3. Locate the ceiling light placement and drill from inside the room up to the attic. Locate the hole from the attic and run the electrical wire to the ceiling light.
4. Follow the instruction for the light to connect the electrical wires.
