The Timber Fire, in Big Sur, grew about 2.5 square miles yesterday out into the Ventana Wilderness, around Sykes Hot Springs. There is limited firefighting occurring in the wilderness, and the fire will continue to spread east wherever it wants.

Orange area on the map is previous, 8/20/2026 fire extent, red is new growth. White lines show previous 24 hour spread intervals.
