AI isn't a compute story. It's a data story.
At World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026 in Shanghai this past weekend, our SVP of Product Engineering, Tim Rausch, explained why the next wave of AI progress will be won on data — not just GPUs.
"AI is not a compute story. It's a story about data," Tim said. "The most successful AI companies, they're not going to be the ones with the most GPUs. They're going to be the ones who figure out how to manage data."
That's exactly what's behind innovations like HAMR, dual pivot, and high bandwidth drives — technology built to grow capacity while lowering TCO. For our customers, every dollar-per-terabyte saved on TCO is a dollar they can put back into compute, models, and the next AI breakthrough.
