Tim loves toys that have several functions. He starts with a telephone that is also a small working piano keyboard. As you might expect, Tim actually used this as his telephone some 40 years ago, when he first bought this item.
All of the items here make a noise of one sort or another, but while the piano/telephone was fairly musical, some of the others are really more noise than music!
A Kazoo on steroids! This is a double Kazoo, and it is attached to a a cone which amplifies the sound.
Three horns attached to a bellows - Tim reckons this is one of his noisiest toys...
A hand drum or twiddle drum. Tim has a few of these but this is the first one he acquired. These originally came from East Asia, where they are known as a Taogu. They can also be found in South America.
A strange percussion instrument - some pieces of orchestral music call for instruments like this.
Triple whistles can sound like a locomotive - again, these sometimes find a use in the concert hall
Finally, a Ri Ra, invented by one of Tim's friends. A leather strip holds it together, and the attached wooden blocks can be made to create fantastical sound effects.
