This footage, taken in March & April 2026, shows brown bear Tim in Zoo park Rožman, Slovenia, and it’s heartbreaking. 💔

These conditions are being considered “acceptable” under Slovenian law, and the owner of the zoo, Mr. Rožmanec, claims that Tim is “doing well”!

BUT, Tim is not doing well! Tim is suffering!

Tim is exhibiting stereotypical behaviors resulting from stress caused by his very poor, unstimulating, and very small cage.

Tim is exhibiting these repetitive and compulsive behaviors by walking along the bars at the front of his cage, from left to right, and pressing his body against the bars, which is known to be a psychological disorder.
This is all the space Tim has known since he was a tiny cub.

A tattered ball and a wooden block hanging from the ceiling of his cage — that’s all he has to keep him busy!

This is Tim’s life - 24/7.

Tim deserves so much more than this.

At BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach we have a 3,500-square-meter natural enclosure ready for him. Here, Tim would have plenty of space to roam, dig, forage for food, and engage with the enrichment activities provided for him. Our offer to rescue Tim still stands, and we could relocate him at any time!
While rescued bears Felix and Mici are finally living the lives they deserve at our sanctuary, Tim remains trapped in a barren cage, deprived of everything a brown bear needs. 💔

Every day he stays there is another day of suffering.
