Aesthetic culture has evolved a ton since the early days of Pinterest and “aesthetic” photos of cappuccinos sitting on tables alongside a book or two. Nowadays, “aesthetic” has an entirely new meaning. Although, this new meaning isn’t entirely accurate, either. On top of this, aesthetics have taken over social media feeds- specifically on TikTok- and are causing some notable problems within us, and our culture. Today, I’ll be going through some of the philosophy of aesthetics, different aesthetics online, and why the current aesthetic obsession online is causing more harm than good.
