[MOBVOI TICWATCH PRO 5 REVIEW]

Early in the smartwatch wars, a company called Mobvoi carved out a following with a wearable called the TicWatch: a smart, low-profile timepiece controlled by a clever capacitive touch strip on the side. Even after ditching its homegrown TicWear platform for Google’s Wear OS, Mobvoi kept the attention of enthusiasts – because every year, it was among the first to use Qualcomm’s newest wearable chipsets, and it was the only manufacturer (outside of Casio) offering a dual-layer display to help with battery life and daylight visibility.

The TicWatch Pro 5 continues that tradition of hardware excellence … but it launches into a Wear OS world that’s oddly more fragmented than ever, and it debuts to an audience more skeptical than ever of Mobvoi’s commitment to its products.
