About Jarratt Davis
My journey began in 2006 when I sold my commercial cleaning business to focus on trading currencies.
I gradually transitioned from managing my own funds to working with an investment management firm in London, offering FCA regulated managed accounts to investors.
My routine often involved 15-hour days at my six-screen workstation, meticulously monitoring breaking news for trading opportunities.
In 2018, I grew weary of the FX market and sought a less intense operation.
I concluded that businesses represented one of the best investments due to their cash flow stability and growth potential, and, importantly, they did not require constant monitoring.
After exploring organic business growth and acquisitions, I turned to the stock market, where every listed company is continuously for sale.
This approach eliminates the challenges of deal sourcing and price negotiations.
I began evaluating listed companies using the same valuation framework I applied to private business acquisitions, searching for businesses that were cash-flow positive, held minimal debt, and possessed significant tangible assets and cash.
To my surprise, I quickly found several businesses trading at seemingly undervalued prices.
Initially sceptical, I spent several months intensively researching the topic.
I started with "The Intelligent Investor" and "Security Analysis" by Ben Graham, followed by Warren Buffett's annual letters and works by other value investors such as Seth Klarman, Joel Greenblatt, Mohnish Pabrai, Walter Schloss, John Templeton, and Peter Lynch.
This research confirmed my initial findings and solidified my commitment to the businesslike value investing philosophy.
In 2023, I decided to fully commit to the businesslike stock market investing model. I now focus on compounding my own capital and working with likeminded investors through this website.
I'm also part of the Equity Value Investment Portfolio team at Marshall Sterling, who are authorised and regulated by the FCA.
