Forspoken is the first game to support DirectStorage on PC. This is a load time comparison between 3 DirectStorage optimized Gen4 SSDs. Comparison chart can be found at the end of the video where all 3 drives are compared in total load time across all 7 scenes.
The Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus-G powered by Phison IO+ Technology comes out on top. This is consistent with previous DirectStorage tests on this channel where Phison based SSDs have outperformed the competition in DirectStorage demos. Now we see that this applies to an actual game, as well. However, the biggest benefit of Phison IO+ Technology firmware is not load time, but rather its performance in demanding texture streaming scenarios, which should be more common in future DirectStorage titles.
The WD SN850X is tested here with Game Mode 2.0 on, but the results with it set to off are virtually identical.
