It’s finally time to push the new 2024 Tacoma Trailhunter build to its limits! In this video, I’m taking the truck up to 12,800 feet on Red Cone Pass—one of Colorado’s most notorious and technical off-road trails.
Since the last update, I’ve completely transformed this truck with a new bed system and a camper setup to turn it into the ultimate overland rig. But Red Cone is unforgiving with its steep, loose descents and narrow switchbacks. The big question: Does the new 4th Gen Tacoma Hybrid have the engine braking and torque to handle this descent safely, or will the extra weight of the camper make this a "butt-puckering" mistake?
My buddy Jesse joins me in his older Toyota (with open diffs!) to see if the new tech can keep up with the old school. We deal with broken air compressors, bent suspension components, and some "interesting" tourists along the way.
