Everyone thought Ethereum was dying, so they shorted it. Then $2.7B in short trades vanished in 24 hours, over $1B of it on ETH alone. The "dying" signal was falling mainnet fees, but those were cut on purpose. With ETH draining off exchanges and the SEC proposing token-launch rules, there was nothing left to sell.
