Tonight we return to one of the most unusual tiki spots in Southern California, a tiki themed sushi restaurant in Studio City. And this place has everything.
We step behind the bar to mix up two original tiki cocktails using Breezeway Blend Rum by Hamilton, explore the restaurant’s wild decor, and dig into the strange history of the building. Staff and regulars claim the place might actually be haunted, and the ghost stories surrounding the restaurant are as strange as the menu.
But the night doesn’t stop there.
Every week the restaurant hosts a live burlesque show, so we stick around to see the performance and experience the full late night atmosphere of this one of a kind tiki sushi spot.

I first visited the Hale Manu home tiki bar several years ago. Ive stayed in touch with Mo and Justin and hung out with them at tiki events and music events all over the country. I could never get that first Navy Grog that they served me in their home bar, out of my mind... It is my great pleasure to have them share this recipe with you all. If you can source the exact rums, itll make a giant difference. Enjoy!
To make the Schmo Bird, you will need:
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz fresh white grapefruit juice
1 oz honey butter syrup
3/4 oz light Puerto Rican rum
3/4 oz dark Jamaican rum
1 oz Demerara rum
1/2 oz Doctor Bird
Mix with pebble ice on high for about 8 seconds. Double strain into a double old fashioned glass over an ice cone.
