Amid the rising cost of living in Lebanon, a new cooperative grocery store is providing the community with food and goods at lower prices. The grocery shop is based on cooperative ownership, with customers and employees all playing an active role. Volunteers help with tasks including stocking shelves, and whenever possible goods are procured from local producers—making this a model where members can benefit both as consumers and suppliers.

Economic insecurity and hunger are growing problems worldwide. That’s why solutions like this one can help and become a model for other places experiencing rising costs of living.
