On my first day of exploring Sao Vicente island, Cape Verde I rented a motorbike and went on a tour around the island. What I found was very surprising, an island that was mostly abandoned outside of the main town of Mindelo. What I didn't know at the time was the island was heavily damaged by a hurricane about six months earlier, which may have been a factor in much of what I was seeing as far as damaged roads and ghost towns.
