On the 10th Dec 2020, I visited a Chinese watercolor art exhibition in Yanhuang Art Museum. It's Beijing's first large art museum built in the late 80s. They regularly host free exhibitions on Chinese art and sometimes western art (see previous video link below of another exhibition I visited).
This time I came across an old guy who asked me: 'What do you think of this work? Do you like it?' I expressed how much I enjoyed this work, and how special it was to me. It was a blend of Chinese landscape art (shanshui) and Western techniques. In fact, he was the artist!
His name is Shixun Pan and he was a grand master in oil paintings. He used to chair as the Dean of the most renown art school in China! I could not have guessed, because he looked just like a random old guy you see in any park. I could not have imagined that he was 86 years old, and still active in the art scene.
