Today I’m pulling out my stencils and working on my giant gel plate, building up layers with bold, textured colour. I begin with Liquitex spray paint, layering a timepiece theme using stencils of clocks and cogs. From there, I add rich layers of bronze and copper, followed by prism violet. Once everything is dry, I roll over unbleached titanium to pull the final print…
But this is where things didn’t go to plan.
I decided to try a different mixed media paper—and the moment it touched the paint, it buckled immediately. Oh man!
So what do you do when the paper doesn’t work?
I let the print dry and then pulled it away, revealing whatever the process has left behind.
