Most editors apply LUTs wrong, and it's why their log footage never looks right. In this Final Cut Pro color grading tutorial I'll show you the mistake and how to fix it, starting with reading exposure properly on the Luma waveform so you know where your footage actually sits. Then how to correct underexposed and overexposed shots by adjusting global exposure before your LUT goes on, not after, and how to layer your corrections and LUTs correctly in the video inspector. Get the order right and your LUTs will look the way they're supposed to.
