Tyrannosaurus mcraensis has been described and published, and if it's a valid species it will turn the megatheropod hierarchy on its head. A southern variant of Tyrannosaurus that was bigger than nearly every other theropod, it coexisted with huge hadrosaurs and ceratopsians every bit as menacing as those that thrived in Hell Creek millions of years later. Tyrannosaurus mcraensis would be bigger than the Giganotosaurus holotype and represents a slimmer, less derived Tyrannosaurus species from southern Laramidia.
