Here's how to make a Manhattan when you want the bitters and the whiskey speaking the same language.

The Manhattan cocktail recipe:
• 2 oz / 60 ml New Riff Malted Rye (100% malted rye, bottled in bond, 6 years)
• 1 oz / 30 ml Carpano Antica sweet vermouth
• 3 dashes Scruffy City Bitters - Classic Aromatic

Stir with ice, strain, garnish with a cherry.

Why this combo works: New Riff's malted rye finishes on clove and cinnamon, and Scruffy City's aromatic bitters are built on clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cardamom. The bitters pick up right where the whiskey leaves off. Carpano Antica brings the vanilla and dried fruit, and the 100 proof rye is one of the few that can stand up to it.
