We finally got back out on the trail — and we may have bitten off more than we could chew. 😂
After a night of incredible lightning and orange storm clouds in Clayton, New Mexico, we head to Capulin Volcano National Monument for a hike around one of North America’s most perfectly formed cinder cone volcanoes.
At nearly 8,000 feet of elevation, the heat, thin air, smoke, and 300+ feet of elevation gain made this hike a little more challenging than expected. But the views were incredible, and seeing the volcanic landscape up close was absolutely worth the climb.
We’re also putting some new shoes to the test. After years of hiking in Crocs, we finally decided to try actual supportive footwear — and we're honestly surprised by how much of a difference it made.
Then we hit the road toward Colorado, where the weather shifts dramatically, the smoke follows us, and we settle in for the night while trying to figure out a problem with the trailer brake system on our brand-new truck.
So this episode has a little bit of everything: volcanoes, hiking, altitude, heat, weather, new gear, beautiful Colorado scenery, and more truck chat. Thanks for coming along for the adventure!
