Food freedom is NOT hard.
Living in fear, restriction and following other people's rules for what you should and shouldn't eat, when you should and shouldn't eat abd how mindful you should be while doing it, is REALLY hard. Exhausting and disconnects you from the savory, wide open experience of being human.
Food is meant to reconnect us. To the earth, to ourselves, to each other.
I can't remember the first time I heard the Hippocrates quote, "Let thy food be thy medicine." But looking back now, I can see how many layers of truth there are in that. Yes, beautiful, whole, organic foods nourish me and are medicine to me but so is time around the table at a restaurant or at a friends house or at a beach potluck where I'm eating together with friends and not wondering whether or not the ingredients are organic. I think the time together around food is medicine too.
And let me also just say, since I talk a lot about slow, mindful, intentional life - that sometimes the most mindful way to eat, is to EAT. Maybe you're hungry and so you just pound that sandwich in the car, music all the way up and feel ... like you. Like a little kid again. Living life, and eating food. Imagine that. Let's get back to that.
