The episode examines the February 19, 2026 case of Dawson Maloney, a 23-year-old Albany Law School student who drove from the East Coast to a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power facility near Boulder City, Nevada, crashed through a substation gate around 10 a.m., and died in his vehicle from a self-inflicted shotgun wound while wearing body armor with firearms and explosive materials present. The FBI and Las Vegas police treat it as counter-terrorism with no active public threat.
John Cordray, a licensed professional counselor, offers non-diagnostic clinical speculation, focusing on Maloney’s messages to family about self-harm and making the news, his statement to his mother that he was a “dead terrorist son,” and books in his hotel room spanning conflicting extremist ideologies.
