This Cliff Burton lick is the best Metallica bass riff ever - and underrated at the same time! Whenever Orion appears in any “top bass lines” list, it’s always either the intro or the interlude, not this one. And people used to think the riff plays on guitar, which too may have added to its disregard.
No sophisticated nuances - just four bars of straight to the point and perfectly phrased bass lick on distortion. Also a great fingerstyle bass exercise. You agree? Or whatever, you cannot change my mind anyway.
