What if the price you see isn’t the same price someone else sees?
The growing use of AI, personal data, and so-called “surveillance pricing” is raising serious questions about how much companies know about consumers—and whether that information could influence the prices we’re asked to pay.
In this video, we look at the recent Senate Judiciary subcommittee discussion surrounding surveillance pricing, including concerns about companies using consumer data and artificial intelligence to determine what an individual may be willing—or forced—to pay.
We’ll also look at the increasingly sophisticated technology appearing inside retail stores, including surveillance and autonomous systems, and why consumers are becoming concerned about just how much information is being collected while they shop.
Could two people ultimately be offered different prices for the same product or service based on what a company knows about them? And where should the line be drawn?
Watch through to the end, because this conversation goes much further than ordinary inflation or prices simply going up. It raises a much bigger question about privacy, AI, consumer data, and who ultimately controls the price you pay.
Let me know in the comments: Would you stop shopping with a company if you discovered it was using your personal data to determine your price?
