This is Qatar's BEST KEPT SECRET! Free Transport, free hotel and free food during your layover with Qatar Airways at the Hamad International Airport. This is an incredible perk that no one talks about.
How does it work? If you have a layover of 8 hours or more and didn't have an option booking a shorter layover in Doha, then you qualify. You do not need any special travel credit card and you do not need any airline status with Qatar Airways or One World. Simply go to the Qatar Airways transfer counter upon landing and ask for your room. What was a nice surprise, is the extra 100QAR that we receive per person as a food voucher for the hotel.
The hotel room we were given during this layover was at the Royal Riviera Hotel Doha located outside of the airport. This was an older hotel but still very nice and clean with a rooftop pool, a small gym and an incredible breakfast and lunch buffets. A shuttle from the airport and back was also included in the layover program. But you might luck out during your time in Qatar by getting a room at the Oryx hotel inside the Doha airport.
Otherwise, if you do not want a hotel room, you have many other transit tour options including a Doha city tour, spa treatments, Desert tour and more.
