The editor of Stars and Stripes, the U.S. military's newspaper, Erik Slavin, has been fired, igniting concerns over Pentagon press censorship.
The newspaper is owned by the government, but has been guaranteed editorial independence since its inception in 1861.
It's believed that the firing came after reporting on food shortages in two of the U.S.'s aircraft carriers following an Iranian attack.
