As monthly payments resume for many borrowers and interest continues to accumulate, families are finding it harder to balance student loans alongside rising housing costs, inflation, childcare, and other everyday expenses.
While some borrowers have benefited from forgiveness programs or repayment plan changes, many others say they’re still facing decades of payments with no clear end in sight.
