Dev describes it this way: Bug Run was inspired by and conceptualized as a forced Mono-type run. For anyone, however unlikely, that isn't familiar with a Mono-type run, it's a chosen game style in which you capture and use Pokémon of only a certain type (not including the Pokémon's secondary type into that equation).
