A Porter flight from Victoria to Toronto was cancelled because a child on board refused to sit down. The child stood in their seat and shouted instead of securing their seatbelt, despite attempts to intervene by flight attendants and the child’s parents. The airline chose to cancel the flight because the process of deplaning the child’s family would have caused too significant a delay. Some passengers told the CBC that the child seemed scared, and was hiding under their seat, while others expressed frustration about how long the situation lasted.
