In this video, I show you how to build huge custom reverbs in Bitwig Studio using only stock devices. Instead of relying on one dedicated reverb plugin, I combine Blur, Delay+, Chorus, Convolution and a few simple tricks to create ambient tails, shimmer effects, pitch-shifted spaces and unique hybrid reverbs. The main idea is simple: great reverbs often come from combining basic techniques in clever ways.
0:00 Intro
0:07 Starting with a basic piano sound
0:27 Why the stock reverb is not enough here
0:35 Building a pitch-shift effect with Delay+
1:40 How changing the buffer creates pitch movement
2:16 First pitch-down result
2:24 Fixing artifacts with a higher update rate
3:06 Hiding the reset click with a second curve modulator
4:05 Clean pitch-down effect with Delay+
4:12 Extending the buffer for longer pitch movement
4:52 Turning it into a pitch-up effect
5:30 Using filtering and feedback for shimmer-like tones
6:27 Adding stereo spread
6:41 Wrapping the effect into a device chain
6:49 Adding reverb in front for more diffusion
7:32 Using chorus for pitch modulation and smoothing
8:14 Matching loudness with gain learn
8:52 Building a shimmer-style reverb layer
9:07 Adding a pitch-down / halftime style layer
9:30 Starting the actual custom reverb chain
9:46 Using Blur as stacked all-pass delays
10:02 Creating macros for mix and delay time
10:44 Spreading delay times for a smoother result
11:41 Shaping the reverb into a long ambient tail
12:09 Why chorus helps reduce metallic ringing
13:35 Adding more Blur stages for density
14:18 Why Blur is a fast alternative to Grid patching
14:54 Short vs long reverb variations
15:26 EQ shaping for airy tails
16:11 Bringing back shimmer in front
16:35 Turning it into a hybrid reverb with convolution
17:13 Adding the halftime layer again
18:05 Rebalancing levels and wet mix
19:00 Wrapping everything into one mega chain
19:38 Final custom reverb result
20:24 Sync issues with modulators and how to fix them
21:08 Ambient reverb result without external plugins
21:22 Resampling the reverb with Rolling Sampler
22:05 Turning the reverb tail into a playable texture
22:33 Endless combinations with just a few devices
23:00 Why every setup leads to different reverbs
23:16 How commercial reverbs often use the same core ideas
24:15 Final thoughts
