On December 9th, 2011, Macintosh Plus—an alias of the musician Ramona Andra Langley—released Floral Shoppe, an album consisting of slowed-down samples of 80s and 90s smooth jazz, pop, and video game music. Over time, it came to define the emerging internet-based music genre known as Vaporwave. The second track in particular, リサフランク420 / 現代のコンピュー (“Lisa Frank 420 / Modern Computer”), helped solidify the album’s place online as well as becoming an entry point for listeners into the fascinating genre.
