He wrote a handful of the most memorable songs of the 70s and 80s… He also produced several of the biggest records of the time in Bat out of Hell, We’re and American Band and Love My Way. Today on our latest edition of Revelations I give you a sit-down with a true legend of popular music Todd Rundgren. He had several massive hits like Hello It’s Me, I Saw the Light, Can We Still Be Friends and Bang the drum all day… he tells the story of all of them including making a couple hundred grand every few months from letting a cruise line use his song and how a few of his early hits came from a girl he dated in high school, who’s father didn’t approve because he was a hippie, in fact he turned the hose on him. Plus he covers his productions like We’re an American Band for Grand Funk Railroad and who really wrote it. and how he brought in two famous 60s era hitmakers to help sing the harmonies on the new wave classic Love My Way and best of all the story of an all time legend and Todd Rundgren’s hero who came to his concert and he was excited to hear Todd’s biggest hit, but Todd famously didn’t play it. Find out the story and more next on Professor of Rock.
