I've said in my own little 60 Second Scholar books that one of the best things I can tell people is, “Look, good Bible study is not following a rote method. It's not jumping through hoops. It's not following a list of ten steps and then spitting out something. There's no substitute for thinking about the text.”

And hopefully you get into resources, or you take classes, or you listen to a podcast, or something that just helps you think. There's no substitute for thinking in Bible study.
