TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik, manufacturers of professional microphones for the recording studio and stage have partnered with Chicago-based progressive-jam band Umphrey’s McGee for the release of the groups new song “Crucial Taunt”, available on all streaming platforms Friday, Sept 13, 2019.
Recorded at TELEFUNKEN Soundstage in South Windsor, CT, with overdubs tracked in Nashville, TN, the original song features the progressive guitar wizardry, heavy organ groove and explosive percussion Umphrey’s McGee is known for.
Filmed as part of TELEFUNKEN’s ongoing Live From The Lab YouTube series, the song was produced by long-time band associate Greg Magers and mixed by Ryan Hewitt (The Lumineers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Avett Brothers). Additional overdubs, tracked at the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, were also handled by long-time band FOH engineer Chris Mitchell.
The recording features TELEFUNKEN’s new Alchemy Microphone Series and direct boxes, as well as the popular Dynamic Series on drums, percussion, bass and guitar amplifiers. The multi-track files for this recording session are available for download here:
