We are live on the floor at PAX West 2026 checking out the very first gameplay reveal of Thief: The Dark Project Remastered from Nightdive Studios and Atari! Garrett is officially back. We're going hands-on to see how the groundbreaking 1998 stealth classic translates to modern hardware, running on the proprietary KEX Engine with up to 4K 120FPS visuals.

The biggest game-changer? Proper modern gamepad support. We test out the newly added weapon and item wheel, gyro controls, and the updated UI to see if it finally feels completely natural on a controller. We also take a look at the upgraded graphic textures, models, and animations, and test the dynamic NPC AI to see how enemies react to light and sound in 2026.
This remaster also packs in all the extra content from the Thief Gold release (including the three additional missions) and features built-in support for custom fan campaigns.
