Fra Balbi joins Flagstaff Bound to share an incredible journey of transformation, going from a self-proclaimed running hater to a 250 mile ultra endurance athlete in just two and a half years. After growing up as a competitive swimmer and volleyball player, Fra discovered that the simplicity and discomfort of running provided a unique clarity that other parts of life couldn't match. We discuss how that escalation from a five mile milestone in New York City led to moving to Prescott, Arizona, and eventually lining up for one of the most grueling point to point races in the country.
Fra also opens up about the powerful experience of being the only non-binary runner at Flagstaff Crest last year and the "Trans Athletes Belong Everywhere" sign that sparked a movement.
