What happens when you take away the distractions, strip off the excuses, add discipline, hardship, brotherhood, real-world rescue training, and put young men under pressure?
You get something rare in America now: useful men.
In this episode, Chuck talks with Jesse Bolden, Executive Director of the International ALERT Academy in Big Sandy, Texas, about a Christian training program built to forge young men into spiritually grounded, physically capable, service-minded leaders. The Academy describes its mission as forging men who are “spiritually sound, physically fit, and ready to serve,” using military-style structure, discipleship, and professional skills training.
This isn’t theory. The program includes phases of training that cover discipline, Bible study, physical fitness, land navigation, first aid, rescue skills, firefighting, aviation, construction, EMT, diving, missions, and leadership development. In the interview, Jesse explains the ethos clearly: gospel, discipline, hardship, camaraderie, training, and service.
What this means:
America doesn’t have a shortage of boys. It has a shortage of men who can lead, serve, endure pressure, and do something useful when things go sideways. ALERT Academy is one answer to that problem, which is inconvenient for a culture allergic to responsibility.
