Rochdale Council has publicly claimed that we never presented a formal Business Plan for the rescue of Hopwood Hall.
But what does the evidence actually show?
In this video, we share our 43-page Hopwood Hall Estate Business Plan — along with correspondence showing that drafts were shared with Rochdale Council, feedback was provided, and Council officers were discussing how they could support it.
So how does that fit with the later claim that no formal plan had been presented?
As we count down to our High Court trial on 29–30 September, we'll continue sharing documents and evidence from behind the battle to save Hopwood Hall.

After being locked out of Hopwood Hall Estate for nearly ten months, we were left with no choice but to sue Rochdale Council in the High Court of Justice!
The community and I have poured in years and years of rescue work along with our team of heritage experts to unexpectedly be suddenly kicked to the curb by Rochdale Council and Hopwood Hall College corporation.
After us trying to come to an amicable resolution, were shocked to be sent photos of the condition of our former award-winning gardens which had fallen back into rack and ruin.

This channel follows the unexpected adventures of American Hopwood DePree who, whilst living in Los Angeles, traced his family tree online, and discovered his abandoned 60-room ancestral home "Hopwood Hall Estate" that dates back to 1426! Hopwood was informed that if he didn't do something very soon to save the Hall, it would be lost forever. So he packed his bags and left LA to take on the madcap challenge of his life with a passionate team of supporters and community volunteers, in England.
We share the ups & downs, failures & triumphs of this group effort DIY rescue emergency: learning new skills, discovering house & garden secrets and seeking the inspirations that will be needed to get this Estate back onto her feet once again!
