Star Wars: Zero Company has launched to strong reviews, but behind the scenes, developer Bit Reactor is facing a very different reality.
According to reporting from Game File’s Stephen Totilo, Bit Reactor furloughed many of its developers just weeks before Star Wars: Zero Company launched, with an August court filing stating that the studio had furloughed “most of its employees” and terminated contractors. One source estimated that as much as 80% of the team was affected, although Bit Reactor has not confirmed that figure.
So how does the studio behind one of the best-reviewed Star Wars games in years reach launch while much of its development team is going without pay?
In this video, we break down what happened at Bit Reactor, how the furloughs were uncovered, the studio’s reported financial problems, the timing just weeks before Zero Company’s release, and the ongoing legal dispute involving Bit Reactor co-founder Alison Kelly and studio head Greg Foertsch.
We also look at the big question facing the developers who actually made the game: if Star Wars: Zero Company is successful, will Bit Reactor be able to bring its furloughed employees back?
The situation is still developing, so some details—including the reported 80% figure—remain unconfirmed by Bit Reactor.

Scrybe Gaming got its start in a galaxy far, far away, creating Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (SWGOH) content focused on gameplay, strategy, guides, reactions, and helping players get more out of the game.
Now, the adventure is getting bigger.
Alongside SWGOH, Scrybe is branching out to explore more of the Star Wars gaming universe and beyond: covering new releases, reviews, gameplay, first impressions, strategy games, RPGs, and whatever else looks worth playing.
