When smart people become a target, everyone is in trouble... and in societies where the balance of power is shifting towards consolidation, they ALWAYS target the SMART PEOPLE FIRST.
Take a look back throughout history. The Soviet Union in the 1920s, Italy and Germany in the 1930s, Cambodia in the 1970s. "Intellectuals" were deemed enemies of the state, rounded up, imprisoned, and much worse. When the government is trying to grab power, if you're educated, you're a threat. You are one of those who can see through the bull sh*t and call out those trying to rewrite the narrative to suit their interests.
So in times like these, what can you do?
Cultivate your curiosity. Read books. Study History. Study Economics. Study Power Structures. Teach yourself how to do things you can't do yet. Train your body and your mind. Realize that your RATIONAL THINKING BRAIN is a powerful force, and don't let it disengage.
Pay attention. Stay vigilant. Be aware.
