Wonder World | These Rings Absorb Light and Glow in the Dark @WonderWorldYTC | Uploaded July 2019 | Updated October 2024, 20 hours ago.
We all know of phosphorescence, which is a glow in the dark material that absorbs light, then emits it back out when itβs dark.
Well one company uses this material in a creative way, Secret Wood, makes a range of Glow in the dark rings.
The glow rings are made from a layered mixture of epoxy resin and a phosphorous glow material.
The rings glow due to process called phosphorescence! the rings absorb natural light, causing the electrons to move into a higher energy state, but the transition back to a lower energy state occurs much more slowly.
The stored energy is released in the form of light! Typically, phosphorescent materials, appear to glow for several minutes, even hours after the light source has been turned off.
They are a little gimmicky, but make for an interesting piece of jewellery that will stand out, far more than an average ring, and are built to put a smile on peoples faces.
Thanks for watching.
