Final Fantasy Resonance is making some surprisingly big changes to the classic Final Fantasy formula, and after seeing more of the game, I’m genuinely excited about what Square Enix is doing.
I break down the latest Final Fantasy Resonance gameplay and take a closer look at the changes to combat, exploration, progression, summons, and the overall structure of the game. Rather than simply trying to recreate what came before, Resonance seems willing to experiment with the formula in some really interesting ways.
I also talk about why these changes could be exactly what Final Fantasy needs right now, while looking at the concerns longtime fans may have with some of the new ideas. There’s a lot to unpack here, but the more I see of Resonance, the more promising it becomes.
