We believe recreation should be for everyone and we are dedicated to creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for all abilities.
Recognized as an Autism Friendly City, 80% of our staff are trained in autism awareness to ensure everyone feels understood and supported at our facilities, in our parks and at events. From sports, and fitness to wellness and art, our programs give every individual the chance to learn, create, and connect year-round. Thanks to a generous grant from the Christopher Reeves Foundation, our GRIT Freedom Chairs make nature trails, fields, and various activities accessible to everyone. Our ZENsory Zone van is the first of its kind— a mobile, calming space for children with developmental disabilities to retreat during overwhelming events. We’ve installed PEC communication boards in five of our parks, helping bridge communication gaps and making playtime more accessible.
