Some mornings you want to be involved. Other mornings, you just want things to work.
This video is about where those two ideas meet. The xBloom Studio in a real home setup — not staged, not rushed — just part of a normal kitchen routine. It’s an all-in-one brewer that grinds the coffee, heats the water, and pours with intention. And the question isn’t whether it can make good filter coffee — it’s what it’s actually like to live with a push-button machine that still speaks fluent coffee.
At first glance, the xBloom Studio looks almost too tidy. No grinder on the bench. No kettle. No scales. Everything lives in one place, which immediately changes how your space feels. Less clutter. Less setup. More room to just… exist while coffee happens in the background.
Out of the box, the Studio comes with the Omni dripper, but you’re not locked into it. V60s, Espro Bloom, Varia drippers — this machine is surprisingly open. That flexibility matters. It tells you the xBloom isn’t trying to replace pour-over culture, just automate it thoughtfully.
Control lives in two places: the front dials, and the app. Today, I’m using the app on an iPad — not because you need one, but because it lets you see everything clearly. Recipes, pours, temperatures, agitation, grind RPM, and timing between pours. You can go deep here. Very deep. Or you can keep it simple and let the machine handle the rest.
I start with a familiar structure — the 4:6 pour-over method — and tweak it based on last time’s brew. Slight grind adjustment. RPM change for better drawdown. Longer pauses between pours so the slurry doesn’t creep too close to the top of the Omni dripper. This is where the xBloom starts to feel less like a gadget and more like a programmable kettle that remembers what you like.
Once the recipe’s locked in, it’s genuinely hands-off. Coffee goes in. Paper filter gets rinsed — still a manual step, but one I’m happy to keep. Then it’s press start and walk away if you want. You can even monitor the entire brew from another room. Stages update live. Weights update live. It’s quietly obsessive, in the best way.
The built-in scales — one under the dripper, one under the decanter — constantly adjust flow so nothing overfills. Pour patterns change. Spiral, center pour, outward bloom. Temperature shifts between stages. It’s essentially automating the exact decisions you’d make manually with a kettle, just without needing your full attention.
Watching it work is oddly calming. The water level stays controlled. Drawdown behaves better than my previous brew. The final agitation mimics that gentle swirl you’d do by hand to finish things off. Four minutes in, 315 millilitres added, and now it simply waits — quietly — for gravity to finish the job.
There’s a small beep at the end. Brew complete. Cleanup is minimal. Knock out the dripper, rinse, done. The drip tray catches any final drops, and that’s it.
This is the real appeal of the xBloom Studio. Not that it replaces skill — but that it preserves intent. The choices still matter. The coffee still matters. You’re just freed up to do something else while it happens.
Some days, that’s exactly what good coffee should do.
