Dometic has a way of changing things for no reason and they did it again. While they discontinued the long suffering Penguin II last year, amid RV manufacturing without warning their OEMs and dealer network, this is the first time I have seen the new Fresh Jet 5 replacements and it had to be on a 2021 Newmar King Aire of all RVs. While many shops have reported no issues with the quick conversion with the data adapture, many have also said they could never get the new board to work even with the data adapture. This King Aire has a very in-depth Silver Leaf/Trillium multi-plex control and it seems it is currently not compatible with the Fresh Jet 5. While some might say I shoud have spent days trying to make the new controller work, I figured I'd just show the "work around" which ironically Dometic is also recommending.
On a more personal review note, this rebrand appears as nothing more than a scam as the core of the A/C is identical, and at $1800, I do not see enough features or quailty to demand such a price and I am cynical enough to know Dometic understands RVers with their systems are stuck buying the replacements as completely changing is even more money.
