British Library | The World Builders - World Building in Games @britishlibrary | Uploaded July 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
This event took place on 24 February 2024. The information below is correct as of the publication date.
To close the British Library exhibition Fantasy: Realms of Imagination, we hosted a day of talks and discussions to explore the creation of worlds within filmmaking and game-design. Bringing together leading production designers, game designers, costume designers, concept artists and illustrators, we looked into their sources of inspiration in the fantasy genre and how it has influenced contemporary popular culture. Panels explored the influence of fantasy fiction on contemporary film and TV world building, and how extraordinary architecture is portrayed on screen. We also looked at the impact of machine learning on the future of film and game design.
Co-curated and produced by Jo Paton Htay and Will Htay.
This event accompanied the British Library exhibition Fantasy: Realms of Imagination, supported by Wayland Games and Unwin Charitable Trust.
