This is a part of a video I shot in December 2007 about revitalizing downtown Altoona, Pennsylvania that I had planned to upload to YouTube back then. Most of what I filmed is crap and not worth sharing and the narration was even worse, but this little bit of footage of the former Woolworth's Five and Dime, months before demolition. I decided to slow down the footage to 50% so you can get a better look and play music in place of the narration (which was not that good anyway). I apologize for the lack of visibility in much of what I tried to show because of the glare off the door but I hope you can see enough of what used to be a very nice building to get why I think this is worth sharing. I was going to buy the building, fix it up, and put an internet cafe in while restoring the old lunch counter and bringing it into the 21st century. Unfortunately, the building was torn down before I could actually get a loan to make an offer. This city has a bad habit of neglecting buildings, tearing them down, and never rebuilding. Where this building once stood is now an empty shale lot with no apparent plans to build anything on the site.
