In another time, another place... That Thing You Do is the story of a small town 1980's synth-pop band. That Thing You Do, the 80s version.
When the 1-Ders, playing on their Juno-106 and Polysix synthesizers, end up in a tight spot when their Linn Drum programmer's drum machine ends up with a broken EPROM chip, their last chance is to ask Spartacus and his drum machine to perform with them at the school dance. But when they finally get on stage to perform, what's this?! These drum patterns are too fast! It's supposed to be an 80's ballad!
And so, their story begins...
