Swords of the Renaissance is an fencing event in Potsdam dedicated to the fighting systems of this period. The lectures are pretty short (30min) and should be an introduction into one specific topic. Further discussion and free play are highly encouraged.

Malte Melms started historical fencing with the longsword in the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer in 2014. In the following years he went to Münster (TG Münster), Bad Oeyenhausen (Corona Historica e.V.) and finally as a trainer for Schwertkampf Osnabrück e.V., where he has been studying the Academie de l'Espée of Gérard Thibault since August 2019. The workshop offers an introduction to the special features of Thibault's system of fencing.
