Dr. David Martin is one of the most wide-ranging thinkers in the space of systemic change, and he joins Becket Fusik ahead of his presentation at Tesla Tech 2026 to discuss the wobble effect, the financial system, identity, AI, and what it means to move through the world from a position of internal coherence rather than external performance.
The wobble effect is the methodology behind 40 years of David's work. Rather than attacking a system at the perimeter, where most defences are concentrated and friction is highest, the wobble effect identifies the centre of inertial mass, introduces a small precession alteration, and steps back while the system does the work. His example is the Death Star: fighters, gun turrets, stormtroopers, all at the edges, and the reactor core completely unguarded. That is not a film error. It is an accurate model of how almost every major institution in modern society is designed, and it is where David has consistently found his leverage. His application in finance: by introducing a mechanism to measure and recognise the value of intangible assets as collateral, his company emancipated trillions of dollars of innovation that banking systems were holding hostage, became the top performing asset manager on the planet by 2015, and did so by measuring one thing nobody had bothered measuring: the value of human creativity.

David describes 49 years of building a theory of manhood around performance, accomplishment, and relationship to the feminine without ever asking what a man actually is, not in reference to anything else, but as a thing in itself.
